Happy October to all! This month is National Substance Abuse Prevention Month which is an
ideal time to highlight the importance of substance abuse prevention in both individual and community settings. The first segment gives more detail including some stark statistics that show how truly important early intervention is! The middle segment is about a great fall tradition that has helped many people, Sober October! This month-long alcohol-free challenge is not only a good opportunity to reflect on your relationship with alcohol, but can also be a really helpful step towards sobriety. Lastly we wanted to dedicate a segment to Red Ribbon Week, which started as a small memorial in memory of DEA special agent Enrique Camarena and grew into a annual nation wide movement. Wearing red ribbons from Oct 23rd-31st commemorates those who have lost their lives in the fight against drugs, and also helps raise awareness about preventing drug abuse in our schools and communities.
